minefields-how nefarious can you be?

Im just curious as to what kinds of things people have done with a mine layer bay? So far I have used them to discourage pusuit. A player of mine has a ship designed for ramming and boarding, and he deploys a minefield on his target as his troops board it. Another player has a loki class q-ship that, true to its purpose, lure unsuspecting pirates in and deploys a minefield as it unleases its pyros meltacannons on the poor badguy. What have others done?

i've found that it works great to discourage raiders from stern camping a cruiser or larger ship. preventing a docked ship from leaving port. and to keep a ship from docking. modified mines make a good substatute for general explosives.
