Bounty Hunters don't pledge fealty to anyone. They accept contracts from the Imperials but refuse to be brought under their strict, oppressive rule. The Empire, for their part, tolerates these outliers, but only as long as they are useful. A Bounty Hunter must consistently deliver or face the very real threat of becoming just another dead, discarded resource.
For a Bounty Hunter, reputation is everything – the bigger your name, the higher your price. High priority targets – politicians, crime lords, pirates, businessmen, smugglers – mean greater risk. As Bounty Hunters progress in their career they regularly come face to face with the fact that this line of work goes one of two places – a life of glory and riches, or an early, unmarked grave.
Some Bounty Hunters like to be well defended, wearing specialty armor and equipment designed to protect. Other Bounty Hunters cling more to the belief that the best defense is a good offense, and they back those words up by being some of the most brutally effective killers in the galaxy. Mercenary Bounty Hunters bristle with weaponry, able to employ an arsenal of firepower, including advanced rockets. Some purchase the very best medical equipment and are able to patch up allies on the battlefield.
